Amicalolalalala part deux

View from the top. Amicalola Falls, GA

Well, we survived all 1214 steps and the giant hill that led to said steps. And, yes, we counted. It didn’t even rain on us. We had lunch at the top also known as the plunge! We decided to go from bottom to top and then back down. Up was rough. Thighs were burning. Heart rates were high. Coming down we had shaky legs and smiles. These falls truly are amazing and the view from the top is breathtaking.

It was awfully crowded today. Probably because we forgot it was a holiday. The new pack was great! Super comfy. It held all my stuff plus some. I had lunch, snacks, my 2L bladder, my rain jacket, first aid kit, knife, more snacks, car keys, phone, charging pack, camera, and someone else’s jacket. No problems at all. Shoes were great. I also wore my new North Face climbing pants that are sooooo comfortable. All in all, I’m pleased with my gear choices.

After the hike, we headed back to the campsite and enjoyed some badminton that our camping neighbors kindly let us borrow. It has been threatening rain all day, but has only just sprinkled twice. Actually, rain is in the schedule every day of our entire trip. The hotdogs and beans tasted extra good tonight after all those stairs today. The fire felt so warm and relaxing.

Tomorrow we head out bright and early to Skidaway Island, GA. It’s about 5 and a half hours (so we will say 6 and a half). We will be avoiding Atlanta like the plague and instead making our way through the cute little town where Sweet Home Alabama was filmed. Stay tuned for more of our adventures!
